VIGNERONS DU PALET, ‘LES PETITES SARDINES’ 2020, MUSCADET, FRANCE $11.99 The flagship wine of a small co-op of 10 members located in the Cru of Le Pallet, which is widely considered the finest ‘Cru’ of Muscadet, a region at the mouth of the Loire River that produces some of the finest oysters in the world, and their wines, made from the Melon de Bourgogne grape, are the best pairing for the aforementioned oysters. One of the dryer whites around, lime zest is really the only fruit note to be found, with a clean mineral finish reminiscent of oyster shells.
BABYLONSTOREN, ‘SOETMELKSVLEI’  2020, SIMONSBERG-PAARL, SOUTH AFRICA $14.99 (MIXED) Babylonstoren is one of the oldest farms in the Cape Dutch area of South Africa, founded at the close of the 17th century. Offering a full farm with unique gardens and a hotel with marque restaurant, Babylonstoren is a small town in itself. This exciting blend of Chardonnay and Chenin Blanc delights with a nose of lemon curd and hints of tropical fruits. On the palate it is medium bodied with fresh acidity and notes of beeswax, citrus and melon, the fruit carries through the palate to a long and creamy finish. Pairs perfect with a cajun seafood boil, especially crayfish.
ROTTENSTEINER, ‘KITZ’ 2021, SÜDTIROL-ALTO ADIGE, ITALY $17.99 While it may look and sound and even taste Germanic, this wine and the people that make it are Italian. Hailing from the foothills of the alps in a region that for many years was under the direct control of the Austrian Habsburgs. The Rottensteiner family has been farming here for three generations, their name is a direct reference to the porphyry soil, a red rock that dominates the region and signifies their ties to the land. The Kitz is german for a baby Ibex, their heraldic symbol. The wine is a fresh blend of 25% Sauvignon, 20% Pinot Blanc, 50% Pinot Gris, 5% Chardonnay, it is fresh, with melon, and pear and white flowers; a perfect aperitif wine with soft cheeses.
CRŪ WINERY, ALBARIÑO 2021, EDNA VALLEY, CALIFORNIA $18.99 (MIXED) Surrounded by volcanic mountains, cooling wind and morning fog combine to provide Edna Valley with the longest growing season in California. The cool climate and extended hang-time lead to wines with bright acidity and complex flavors. It provides the ideal growing conditions for Albariño, a once obscure wine from Galicia in north-west Spain that has quickly gained international acclaim for its complexity and finesse. Aromas of dried grass and white flowers give way to a palate with green apple and white peach and a maritime character on the finish.
GUNDERLOCH, FRITZ’S RIESLING 2021, RHEINHESSEN, GERMANY $15.99   A feinherb or "off-dry" style named in honor of Johannes' father, world-renowned winemaker Fritz Hasselbach at the Gunderloch winery. It grows in a very small and special part of Rheinhessen called the Roter Hang meaning the “red hill”. The vineyards are very close to the river Rhein on steep slopes facing south-east. The combination of those four factors—the red slate soil, the closeness to the river, great sun exposure and the steepness of the vineyards—are the perfect combination to produce Fritz’s Riesling, one of best value wines in Germany.
‘PETIT BOURGEOIS’, SAUVIGNON BLANC 2021, LOIRE VALLEY, FRANCE $14.99 (MIXED) The Bourgeois family has been farming in the Loire Valley, the Garden of France, for 10 generations and throughout that time they have become masters of Sauvignon Blanc, producing it from every appellation and at every level of quality, but a great maxim is to always try a producers entry level wine and once you try this the Bourgeois family’s excellence will become apparent. Remarkably aromatic with pleasant flower and fruit fragrances recalling the flower of the vine and the fruit of Sauvignon. On the palate, it reveals a freshness and vivacity that is characteristic of grapes harvested at good maturity.
