STRANGEWAYS, PINOT NOIR 2024, SANTA LUCIA HIGHLANDS, CALIFORNIA $15.99 It can be a tall order to find a good value Pinot Noir from California, too often they are flat and overly extracted, too fruity and lacking acidity. But, when we do find one, we are always overjoyed as when done correctly they can be some of the most interesting and pleasing wines to find. 2024 is the first year Strangeways will be entirely soured from Santa Lucia Highlands sites! One of the most respected sites for Pinot in the US! All sustainably farmed and aged for eight months in French Oak, creating a good deal more complexity and a more substantial mouthfeel, no watery Pinot here! Light bodied but with good texture, notes of dark cherry, cola spice and vanilla.
CROUS ST. MARTIN, ‘LES ETRIERS’ ROUGE 2023, CÔTES-DU-RHÔNE, FRANCE $14.99 A rising star of the southern Rhône region, Crous St Martin is a collaboration between Rhône expert Harry Bosmans and Eric Bonnet of Domaine Bastide Saint Dominique. Harry is a household name amongst quality growers in the Rhone Valley and an invaluable resource thanks to his skill on both the production side and the sales side. Eric’s family has been growing grapes in the northeast corner of the Chateauneuf-du-Pape appellation for three generations now, with 120 acres of vines in their name. A near equal blend of Grenache and Syrah, it opens with savory nose intertwined with aromas of fresh plums, notes of freshly crushed plum, black currant, apple skin, and black olive on the palate lead into a subtle saline finish.
BARAHONDA, ‘CARRO’ TINTO 2024, YECLA, SPAIN $15.99 The Candela family established the bodega in 1925. Located in the warmer southeastern part of Spain, Yecla is one of the country's oldest wine regions, with a rich history that dates back to the 6th Century AD. Monastrell is better known as Mourvédre in France's Chateauneuf-du-Pape appellation, where the terroir and climate are similar to Yecla. Both regions have a Mediterranean climate with warm days and nights. This wine combines the powerful Monastrell (50%) grape with the spicy, soft tannins of Syrah (25%) and the silky texture of Merlot (25%). Aromas of cherry and licorice are complemented by a suggestion of dark chocolate, and a smoky nuance emerges slowly. Spice-tinged red and blue fruit flavors show very good depth as well as vivacity thanks to a spine of juicy acidity. Finishes quite long, with lingering spiciness, gentle tannins and an echo of sweet red fruit.

CONCHA Y TORO, SAUVIGNON BLANC 2024, COLCHAGUA VALLEY, CHILE $16.99 The Ucúquer Vineyard is located on the southern bank of the Rapel River on a ravine near to the river mouth at an altitude of 170 meters above sea level. Situated at just 15 kilometers from the Pacific Ocean, it receives a strong maritime influence. The soils are granitic with a high red clay and quartz content, poor in organic material and have good drainage. This wine is mineral, with citrus notes of lime and grapefruit. In the mouth, it is fresh, long, and intense. Pairs well with Spicy Asian cuisine, sushi, ceviche and oysters.
YLLERA, WHITE BLEND 2024, RUEDA, SPAIN $12.99 Bodegas Yllera was founded in the early 1970's by brothers Jesus and Pepe Yllera. Today they are run by the 6th generation of family members and pride themselves on being environmentally friendly. To help avoid oxidation and loss of aromas, they exclusively harvest their grapes at night. This harvesting process, coupled with the clay soils in Rioja, give their wines a unique acidic and aromatic personality. This medium-bodied white blend is made up of 91% Verdejo, 3% Sauvignon Blanc, 2% Chardonnay, 2% Viura, and 2% Viognier and has tasting notes of yellow apples, peach, and honeysuckle. Pair this wine with a spicy Spanish paella or smooth cheeses.
BERGER, GRÜNER VELTLINER 1L 2024, KREMSTAL, AUSTRIA $18.99 If you’ve ever asked “What’s a perfect white for just about anything?”—this is your answer. Erich Berger is a humble grower in the Kremstal, located in the village of Gedersdorf in the Danube River Valley. His 2024 Grüner Veltliner is peak Austrian refreshment: dry, citrusy, and peppery. It’s fresh, uncomplicated, and crazy drinkable—but it also has an extra level of clarity and complexity we’ve come to expect form higher price GVs. We love that it comes in a full liter bottle. That’s an extra glass of wine for no extra drama. Delivering classic wine aromatics and a palate awash in green apple, Asian pear, and lime, the light spritz awakens the spring herb flavors on the palate and accentuates its earthly undertones. It pairs well with white fish, fried chicken cutlets and veggies, especially asparagus, string beans, artichokes and brussel sprouts, or veggie pâté, hummus, cheese & spring onion crackers.
