  • BARBARDILLO, ‘BLANCO DE ALBARIZA’ PALOMINO FINO 2024, CADIZ, SPAIN $16.99 Sherry can seem distant and unknowable, despite the fact that most people have heard of it, and maybe have even tried it. Sherry can still seem anachronistic, a quirky relic of a bygone age, and while I won’t be so quick as to condone it to anonymity; it is refreshing that traditional producers, like Barbadillo, sitting pretty at 205 years old, are coming out with more modern, fresh takes of their staple product. Produced from 100% Palomino Fino, the same variety that underpins all their dry sherries, planted in the white, chalky, marine fossil rich albariza soils. It is pale yellow with greenish reflections. Tasty aroma of white-fleshed pear-type fruit accompanied by fresh citrus notes. Smooth entry, tasty and elegant, typical of the Palomino grape. Pairs it with grilled seafood or oysters on the half shell.
  • RIFF, PINOT GRIGIO DELLE VENEZIE 2024, ALTO ADIGE, ITALY $12.99 (MIXED) The Riff project is an innovative initiative initiated in 2002 by the esteemed Alto Adige producer Alois Lageder, designed to explore the broader potential of the Tre Venezie area. The name ‘Riff’ (German for reef) pays homage to the ancient limestone and dolomite fossil reefs that form the geologic foundation of the region’s best vineyards. Lageder has built his internationally acclaimed reputation by flipping the expected script of Pinot Grigio as light-weight lemon-water by producing exceptionally complex yet balanced versions of this noble varietal; offering bright, pure orchard fruit, surprising textural weight, and a vibrant, stony minerality.
  • THISTLEDOWN, ‘GORGEOUS’ GRENACHE BLANC 2024, EDEN VALLEY, AUSTRALIA $17.99 Thistledown was founded in 2010 by Master of Wine, Giles Cooke, whose vision was to craft wines of precision, elegance and energy. Wines that not only faithfully expressed the sites from which the fruit was grown but challenged the accepted notion of what Australian wine can be. Shiraz (syrah) is typically the red most people associate with Australian wines, but its old-world buddy Grenache might end up taking the spotlight at the end of the day, and while the white versions are still rare, they are capable of making beautifully textured, citrus laced wines with high curb appeal. Bright, tangy citrus laced fruit with hints of honeysuckle and lemon balm. Taut, yet textured and complex, it is just light enough to make it perfect.
  • FONCALIEU, PIQUEPOUL NOIR ROSE 2025, LANGUEDOC, FRANCE $16.99 (MIXED) Foncalieu might be a behemoth cooperative, with over 800 members producing 16 million bottles of wine each year from over 30 grape varieties, but this rose is one of their more unique and small scale productions. Though only 250 acres of this rare grape remain, Piquepoul Noir has been grown in southern France for centuries. It is originally from the Languedoc and is one of the 13 grapes permitted in Châteauneuf du Pape. Foncalieu’s is sourced from one grower’s five-acre hillside vineyard in the village of Cazouls. Pale pink, the wine is pretty, vivacious and expressive, with wild strawberries on the nose. In the mouth the grape’s natural acidity gives this a vibrancy that keeps it fresh and alive. It offers plenty of red fruit and a twist of lime on the considerable length – but it is never ‘flabby’ or overdone but remains remarkably well-balanced. A perfect companion to spiced, middle easter kebabs.
  • A.A. BADENHORST, ‘THE CURATOR’ WHITE BLEND 2025, SWARTLAND, SOUTH AFRICA $14.99  This is a delicious value white from South Africa's prolific Swartland region, and the deft hand of winemaker Adi Badenhorst. It is an easy-drinking and medium-light body white blend: The Chenin Blanc makes up the largest portion of this blend, it brings the backbone and structure. The Chardonnay was naturally fermented resulting in great texture and wacky aromas of dried peaches and apricots and ripe citrus. The Viognier brings some spice and palate length.

  • LAPIS LUNA, SAUVIGNON BLANC 2024, NORTH COAST, CALIFORNIA $15.99 (MIXED) Established in 1999, Lapis Luna produces exceptional value wines from undiscovered California vineyards. Each label is a rendition of a 400 year old copperplate engraving showing a faceless hero reaching for the moon. The color is almost clear with a golden glow. The nose is tropical fruit, peach and pear, melon, lime, apple, and soft spice, while lightly floral. The acidity is balanced and gives this wine decent length. A perfect aperitif wine, it wouldn’t mind being turned into a spritzer on a particularly sweltering sunny afternoon.
