The La Cartuja Priorat has been one of our most requested wines for two years now!  We first featured the 2010 in our Half Case Wine Club, and the 2011 and 2012 vintages were among our top selling wines of the year!

Always Organically farmed, this is one of those incredible all-purpose red blends that has somehow has taken on a life of it’s own.  I’m happy to report I tried this 2013 vintage in New York earlier this year, and secured a healthy allocation for all of you who love this wine.

Starting today and over a period of a week or so, we should have 30 cases available.  It seems like a large number, but I suspect they may still go quickly!

Tasting Notes: 2013 La Cartua Priorat

Like in years past the blend is 70% Garnacha and 30% Carignan, and the winery only makes this single cuvee.  Oak treatment is restrained to 6 months as a blend of large and small French oak barriques are used, only a portion of which is new.  The 2013 reminds me of he 2011, and is modern in style with rich, deep fruits.  The finish ties the fruit up nicely with some tart acidity, pulling you into the next sip.

La Cartuja Priorat always has unusually high intensity for its price point.

Although we’re seeing more affordable bottlings from Spain’s Priorat region (just southwest of Barcelona), it’s rare to find one this impressive for $17.99!
