Beautiful Barolo – $29.99! 15% Off Cases! – Drinking Perfectly!

We recently tried a beautiful Barolo that is remarkably affordable and delicious right now.  It’s very unusual to find a Barolo just over $25/bottle after discounts.  First cases arrive this afternoon!

Barolo is one of Italy’s most celebrated wines, and along with Barbaresco, the two represent the finest expressions of the Nebbiolo grape on the planet.  At the same time, these wines are extremely long lived and historically have taken several years to mature.  So, the recent trend has been to apply modern winemaking techniques to add richness to the profile while at the same time making the wine more drinkable while young.  We’ve seen this trend with Napa Valley reds over the past 10 to 15 years.

The 2009 Reverdito Barolo is a great example of a wine that communicates Barolo’s essence, but has a richness of texture (ripe tannins) making it wonderful right now.

The 2009 Reverdito Barolo is perfect for….

Nick’s tasting Notes:

Ripe dark fruit with classic notes of licorice, but with surprising silky texture.  There’s some oak spice, but it’s not over the top.  The color is classic with slightly brick-colored edges in the glass.  Over a period of several hours, the tannins really fold-in nicely and it tastes like a perfectly aged Barolo, but with very ripe fruit and zero oxidation.

Sarah Catherine’s Tasting Notes:

Plenty of woodsy spice back chocolate and espresso aromas. Displaying a classic Nebbiolo acidity with supple texture, freshness meets well-integrated balance. A lingering finish proves that the mingling vibrancy of flavors are true to form and undeniably a lovely showcase of Piedmont’s pride and joy. Reverdito Barolo brings it home to you.”

Thanks again,

-Nick
