Perfectly Aged Bordeaux!

6 Years Old, Drinking Beautifully!

Sometimes a perfectly aged Bordeaux is hard to beat!….in a time where everyone is looking for the next new thing, rediscovering a classic can be completely refreshing.

2009 was a fantastic vintage for Bordeaux, and the Chateau Carignan in it’s sweet spot right now.  Rich and ripe with subtle structure to match, this is a perfect go-to weekday wine.  It’s also versatile enough for special events because it’s crowd-pleasing, sophisticated, and a bit surprising!

Background:

Château Carignan is located at Carignan de Bordeaux, 10km to the east of

Bordeaux. The dominant grape variety, as for the other right bank Appellations (Saint Emilion and Pomerol), is Merlot. This variety is in its element on the clayey limestone hillside as it favors early ripening and in great years adds depth instead of alcohol.

Dark fruits, well integrated tannins, and a general weight that is unusual for a $19.99 wine, this will become a household favorite very quickly!
