A Perfect Bordeaux Comparison

A Perfect Bordeaux Comparison!

We don’t have the opportunity to write about two Bordeaux bottlings like this very often.  Each wine comes from the same great vintage (2010) and has the exact same blend (80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Sauvingon).  As far as we can tell the vinification techniques are very similar as well.  The difference is the region, which is what makes this fun!

Both of these wines are very affordable (each under $20 after discounts) and are drinking perfectly today – Having a bottle of Bordeaux on the table adds a bit of class to a casual meal!

Both of these wines stood-out in a recent tasting and we thought it would be fun to offer them together as it’s a perfect opportunity to compare the two major growing regions of Bordeaux in France.

A mixed six-pack of these two wines qualifies for the discount, and comes to

$105.24 before tax

(A mixed six-pack is 3 bottles of each wine)

First Cases Arrive This Afternoon!

2010 Chateau Malmaison is on the “Left Bank” of the Gironde river, where the soil is typically more gravel based.  The wines from this area often have more structural power and carry dark black fruits and often graphite aromas with and cedar, similar to pencil shavings.

2010 Chateau Cadillac is on the “Right Bank” where the soil is more clay dominant.  Here, merlot shows it’s best, and the Cadillac is ripe and rich in style boasting pure dark fruits with weight.
