Pezerolles Vineyard – Pommard / Cotes de Beaune / Burgundy.

Located on the northern side of the town, this 12 acre vineyard produces wines are are sturdy, a little less flashy, and definitely age-worthy.  Color is typically dark, and acid/tannin structure is solid. As Pezerolles is a Premier Cru vineyard (no vineyards in Pommard are classified higher), this will take some time to mature and flesh out.

Nick’s tasting notes

When I visited Burgundy last year, I stayed for a week in the town of Pommard and learned how the wines mature.

This is not a pop-and-go Burgundy.  It takes some time to open up in the decanter, and really requires a few more years before it will open-up fully.  Of course, by that time it will be long gone as is the case with Burgundy!  Red fruits abound, and it’s somewhat backwards in how it shows…..the beginning is subdued, but the middle and finish are where you start to see things expand.  Intensity and balance are great, with structure/acidity being the most noticeable!

From the Wine Spectator Review: 94 Points!

Packed with pure cherry, raspberry and violet aromas and flavors, this rich red is supported by mouthwatering acidity and tightly knit tannins. Harmonious and long. Best from 2015 through 2032. 75 cases imported. -BS
