Only 8 Six-Packs Are Arriving!
There has been great excitement about the Don Melchor Cabernet Releases.  In just a short time we have become one of the state’s top accounts for this wine because you all have enjoyed it so much!
Now the 2012 Vintage is arriving and I wanted to save you what we have secured a healthy allocation. 2012 was a ripe, full-bodied year for this wine, although it is remarkably consistent from year to year (much like a top Pomerol)
The 2010 vintage was a Top 10 Wine Spectator Bottling with a 95 Point review, and this 2012 vintage received the same 95 Point Score
Regularly $99.99 per bottle, we have our best price ever for solid wooden six-packs of this wine.  Now $84.99 Per bottle!
There isn’t a lot available but this is a great wine and stands extremely well along the world’s other top cabernet bottlings.  When I met winemaker , Enrique Tirado,  he told me the sweet spot for aging this wine is 5-15 years, so it is definitely made for the cellar!
Background:
This wine comes from a single vineyard (also named Don Melchor) in the Puente Alto region of Chile’s Maipo Valley.  The goal from the start was to make a Bordeaux styled wine. Interestingly, the winery has done an extensive analysis of seven different blocks on the Don Melchor vineyard, separated out by soil type and root vigor, and they have isolated individual flavor characteristics of each block even though the climate is relatively consistent across the vineyard.  Roughly 60% of the vineyard contributes to the final Don Melchor wine, and they vary the usage of each block in order to make the most complete wine every year. Average vine age is 25-30 years (pretty old for cabernet sauvignon!).

From the James Suckling Review – 98 Points
Wonderful aromas of black olives, meat and currants. Hints of fresh mint. Full to medium body, with sublime tannin texture that feels like the finest silk. A finish that lasts for minutes. Palate has amazing energy of richness and freshness. A great wine. So layered and balanced. 93% cabernet sauvignon and 7% cabernet franc. Drink or hold.

Thanks as always!

-Nick
