SOLD-OUT!!! – 2000 Bovio Barolo! – Drinking Perfectly! – Under $50!

We received our one and only 11 case drop of 2000 Bovio Gattera Barolo yesterday!  Pictured above, these magnificent cases were carefully cellared by importer, Robert Chadderdon, for the last decade or so!

Originally $60 upon release, we’re proud to offer this wine for $49.99, and $44.99 if purchased with a case!  Jump on these if you love Barolo but don’t want to wait a decade to enjoy them!

In 1977 Gianfranco Bovio set-out to rebuild his father’s wine estate. Over the years, he acquired roughly 22 acres of vineyards, centered around prime slopes in the La Morra region of Barolo where the wines are typified by their generous textures.

The 2000 Bovio Vigna Gattera Barolo comes from a single 2.5 acre vineyard (Cru) in La Morra, and only 500 cases were produced in 2000.

The Gattera bottling is generally the most structured of Bovio’s barolos, and arguably has the best aging potential.  It’s also made in the most traditional style as it undergoes aging in very large Slovanian Oak casks for a minimum of 30 months.

Nick’s Tasting Notes:

The 2000 Vintage for Barolo was very good, and this wine is really approaching it’s sweet spot!  The color is appropriate with a slight orange hue at the edge of the glass. Flavors are still youthful, and over several hours the wine gains some flesh and weight.  Classic dark dusty fruits and licorice flavors are prevalent, and as it’s 13 years old, the earthy flavors are starting to present themselves.  Medium to full bodied, this will be great for a few more years.

I don’t know how long these cases will last so please send a reply to if you’d like us to save any for you!
